(A) SEBI vide its Circular No. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/MIRSD-PoD-1/P/CIR/2023/37 dated March 16, 2023 (now rescinded due to issuance of Master Circular for Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents dated May 17, 2023) mandated all the listed companies to record the PAN, Postal address with PIN code, Contact details/Mobile number, Bank account details, Specimen signature and Nomination for all holders of physical securities

(B) Recently, SEBI vide its circular No. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/POD-1/P/CIR/2023/181 dated November 17, 2023 has done away with the provisions related to the freezing of folios and referring frozen folios to the administering authority under the Benami Transactions (Prohibitions) Act, 1988 and/or Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The SEBI Master Circular for Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents dated May 17, 2023 has been amended accordingly

However, kindly note that the folios wherein any one of the above cited document/details (PAN, Postal address with PIN code, Mobile number, Bank account details, Specimen signature and Nomination) are not available shall be eligible :

1. to lodge grievance or avail any service request from the RTA only after furnishing the complete documents/details as mentioned above

2. for any payment including dividend (which would be only through electronic mode) only upon complying with the requirements as mentioned above

(C) Also note that SEBI vide its Circular No. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/POD-1/P/CIR/2023/158 dated September 26, 2023, extended the timelines for submission of nomination in eligible demat accounts, Voluntary nomination for trading accounts and for submission of PAN, Nomination and KYC details by physical security holders

The extended timelines are as given below :

For trading and demat accounts

1. Submission of 'choice of nomination' for trading accounts has been made voluntary

2. Submission of 'choice of nomination' for demat accounts - extended the last date for submission of 'choice of nomination' to December 31, 2023

For physical security holders

Extended the last date for submission of PAN, Nomination, Contact details, Bank A/c details and Specimen signature for their corresponding folio numbers to December 31, 2023
